Metering is an incredibly important aspect of photography to grasp. You might have heard about the exposure triangle but I believe we should be talking about an exposure square with metering being the forth side as it is equally as important to getting the correct exposure as your aperture, ISO and shutter speed.
We will explore how and when to use each of the metering options and how to use it to get some creative lighting in your shots.

Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

The event was good. I knew some things about the camera and how it worked. I learned about other settings and how they all work together. I left with more knowledge and now will be putting this to use and hopefully taking better photos. Small class that I attended and that was nice, more one on one with the instructor.

Bryan was wonderful. He brought ideas to the group to get us out of the "everything needs to be tack sharp." I'm so used to shooting at 1/1250 that Bryan made me think about shutter speed.

Bryan is a great instructor, he shared some really great insight on composition, keeping it concise and relevant so we could focus on the points that he shared and wanted us to go shoot? I got a lot out of the format of instruction, practice what we learned and come back and review, talk about the shots we had made. I?ll be looking for more opportunities to study with Bryan again! Thx

First time attending and I was blown away with the background of the instructor. I thought I?d probably be getting an art student still in college ( nothing wrong with that) but turned out to be an award winning professional with an amazing portfolio! And years of professional experience. Can?t wait to learn more!

This was a great event in that it pushed me to think outside the box and find ways to take photos in a not so ideal lighting situation. Once you know what type of light leads to great photos, you can figure out how to make a good lighting scenario out of a bad one.

I was in the backyard to check out plants this past Sunday late afternoon. Noticed the Mexican Bird of Paradise blooming like crazy. So, I took my DSLR and 90 mm macro (1:1) lens and took a few shots with just a monopod. It was windy but I somehow managed to take a few shots with minimal focusing issue. Manual settings: f/2.8, ISO 100, 1/1000 sec. No flash, no diffuser, no reflector. Stacked handful shots. The hot yellow-red petals and pollens are huge attractions to honey bees. There were bees
